Hidden Stories comes from a shared desire to unpack the stories behind the migration statistics in Cumbria and understand migration in a human, historical and global context.
Over the course of the 2017, Hidden Stories compiled an oral history archive on the theme of migration which became the basis for a special exhibition and learning resources that have toured libraries, museums and schools.
It is now in it’s second phase and Hidden Stories – Extending the Conversation is sharing the exhibition and workshop with even more communities in Cumbria. We are able to do this thanks to funding from The Big Lottery Fund, through Awards for All, and from Cumbria County Council.
The original project was funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund and was a partnership between:
- Cumbria Development Education Centre, lead partner and grant holder, www.cdec.org.uk
- South Lakes Equality and Diversity Partnership and South Lakeland District Council
- ‘Cumberland – A Secret History’
- AWAZ – the Voice of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) People and Communities in Cumbria https://equalitycumbria.org/awaz-cumbria
